With 30 years of experience in Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Richie Gupta is an expert in all aspects of plastic surgery. His areas of expertise include gender affirmation (sex change) surgery, cosmetic injectables, aesthetic breast surgery, body contouring, cleft lip and palate surgery, microvascular free flap surgery, post-cancer reconstructive surgery, cranio-maxillofacial surgery, and hand surgery. He is a leading surgeon in the field of gender affirmation surgery, with over 3500 cases to his name. The department he leads is also the top unit in the country for sex change operations, performing around 240 per year. Dr. Richie has many published articles in national and international journals, which can be found on his ResearchGate profile. Dr. Richie has a MBBS, DA, MS in General Surgery, and M.Ch in Plastic Surgery. He is the founding Director of the Association for Transgender Health in India (ATHI) and its professional wing, the Indian Professional Association for Transgender Health (IPATH). He regularly participates in Continuing Medical Education programs and conferences, such as IPATHCON 2019 where he was the organizing chairperson. He also co-wrote the surgical chapter and played a key role in the release of the first Indian Standards of Care for persons with gender incongruence and people with differences in sexual development/orientation (ISCO1) during IPATHCON 2020.
