Kevin Turner studied medicine at Cambridge (where he was awarded a double First Class degree) and Oxford (where he qualified in 1993). He undertook specialist Urological training in Oxford (which included a period of full-time research), Edinburgh, and Melbourne. He was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon in Bournemouth in 2007. His clinical interests include urological cancer/prostate disease / minimally invasive surgery. Together with Andrew Wedderburn, he introduced laparoscopic and then robotic prostate surgery to Bournemouth.
Kevin Turner provides a full adult General Urology service for men and women including assessment and management of urinary symptoms, urinary tract infection, prostate assessment, prostate cancer, incontinence, and conditions of the penis and scrotum. He has a particular interest in urological cancers, disease of the prostate / prostate cancer and minimally invasive / robotic surgery.
Mr Turner is co-author of the Oxford Handbook of Urological Surgery. He enjoys teaching Urology to surgical trainees and is a current Examiner for the FRCS(Urology) examination. He has been actively involved in research throughout his career. His period in full time research resulted in numerous presentations and publications, in the award of the European Association of Urology Thesis Award, and in his election the office of Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He co-leads a research group at Bournemouth University where he is a Visiting Professor.
Outside of medicine, his time is spent with his family (he is married to a teacher and is dad to twins who are at University), being involved in the local church, looking after an old house, and running along the footpaths and bridleways of rural Dorset!
