Mr Henry Atkinson is one of London's most reputable orthopaedic surgeons. He specialises in sports injuries of the lower limb, biological treatments, and hip, knee, foot and ankle reconstructive and replacement surgery. He practises at a number of prominent clinics around the capital such as the London Sports Orthopaedics. He is the Divisional Director for Surgery and Cancer Services at his NHS base, North Middlesex University Hospital, a partner to the Royal Free Hospital.
He gained his medical degree from the University of Edinburgh in 1998 before undertaking basic surgical training on the South-East of Scotland BST rotation, subsequently achieving membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2001. After becoming a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in trauma and orthopaedics in 2006, he completed his specialist trauma and orthopaedics training on the Imperial College North West Thames rotation in 2008. In addition to his training in the UK, Mr Atkinson has completed international fellowships in Toronto, Canada and Adelaide, Australia.
Outside of his clinic, Mr Atkinson is dedicated to passing on his expertise, serving as a visiting professor at Belgrade Medical School, assistant professor at St George's University and a lecturer at Queen Mary University London (QMUL).
He has been published on a wide range of topics and is a reviewer for a large number of prestigious journals such as The Knee and the World Journal of Orthopaedics.
