Dr Jamal Hayat is an experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist, currently seeing private patients at Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital and Spire St Anthony's Hospital.
Dr Hayat completed his specialist gastroenterology training in London, during which he undertook an MD research degree into the use of advanced diagnostic techniques in gastrointestinal disease. He has presented his work nationally and internationally, and published in a number of high-impact scientific journals.
Dr Hayat runs a specialist clinic for patients with upper GI problems such as reflux disease/indigestion and swallowing disorders. He runs the GI physiology lab at St George's Hospital, performing high-resolution oesophageal manometry and ambulatory impedance-pH monitoring. He is also an experienced JAG accredited endoscopist and endoscopy trainer.
Dr Hayat's clinical practice encompasses the diagnosis and management of patients with anaemia, abdominal pain, and altered bowel habit. He also detects and assesses irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, and gastrointestinal cancers such as stomach cancer and bowel cancer.
