Mr Christopher McFaul is a highly skilled Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon who has been employed at the Countess of Chester Hospital since 2010. He is trained in all aspects of gastrointestinal surgery with particular interest in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery. Mr McFaul completed a fellowship in laparoscopic colorectal surgery at St Mark’s Hospital in London, a national and international referral centre for colorectal and intestinal disorders, where he gained extensive experience in laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, rectal prolapse, and other colorectal and intestinal disorders.
Mr McFaul's main areas of expertise include colorectal disease, gallstones, hernias, and endoscopy. He sees patients with rectal bleeding, change in bowel habit, abdominal pain, faecal incontinence, anal pain, abdominal/groin swellings and other related concerns. He is also interested in surgical education and training in laparoscopic surgery.
Mr McFaul completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Liverpool and the majority of his surgical training since 1998 has been in the Mersey region, including Chester. He has also undertaken training in pelvic floor disorders in Manchester and at St Mark’s.
Mr McFaul is a member of several professional associations including the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland, Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
