Dr Somnath Kumar is a respected senior consultant cardiologist based at Royal Preston and Chorley hospitals and the Lancashire Cardiac Centre in Blackpool, where he performs angioplasty and stent implantation. He has extensive knowledge in all aspects of adult cardiology and provides a variety of cardiac investigations and therapies.
He specialises in the following areas:
Dr Kuman is a great believer in providing patients with high-quality, individualised care. He sees patients with chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, heart murmurs, dizzy episodes, and blackouts.
As an interventional cardiology expert, he is able to perform coronary angiography and complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI, coronary angioplasty and stenting).
He previously served in clinical and executive leadership roles for a decade alongside leading a clinical research and teaching programme.
Dr. Kumar spent over seven years training in cardiology on the North-West, Midlands, and London rotations. He also spent time as a clinical researcher at the Lancashire Cardiac Centre and the University of Liverpool.
He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians and was the former clinical lead for the Lancashire and Cumbria Cardiac Network.
