Mr Hilal Fareed is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with wide experience in all aspects of orthopaedic and trauma surgery, but his special interest lies in hip and knee surgery - in particular joint replacement surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery, management of long bone fractures and musculoskeletal trauma. In addition he also sees children with common paediatric orthopaedic conditions.
Mr Fareed obtained his medical degree and M.S in orthopaedic surgery from the renowned Aligarh Muslim University in India and after completing his training and working as a consultant in India he came to the UK on the ODT Scheme of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He was trained as registrar in Northwest of England where he obtained his MCh Orth degree from the University of Liverpool. Following this, he worked as a senior registrar at the Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot and then
worked on various positions at the West Middlesex University Hospital in
London. After passing the Intercollegiate Speciality Examination in Trauma and
Orthopaedics (Edinburgh) and gaining entry to the GMC’s Specialist Register, he
worked for a considerable time as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the West
Middlesex University Hospital in London. He now works at St Marys Hospital Isle
of Wight NHS Trust as a consultant hip and knee surgeon.
Mr Fareed is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM). He is a member of the orthopaedic council of RSM. He has a keen interest in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching and training of Doctors and has previously been an Honorary clinical senior lecturer at Imperial College, London.
Mr Fareed undertakes private work in London and in Isle of Wight with various health providers including the Circle Health Group, Phoenix Hospital Group and Mottistone suite. He also has a medico-legal practice as an expert in trauma and orthopaedic cases.
Mr Fareed can communicate fluently in English, Urdu and Hindi and has basic knowledge of Arabic and Persian.
