Dr Philip Batty is a Consultant Sport and Exercise Physician with more than 25 years of clinical experience. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Liverpool in 1987. Between 1996 and 1999, he was the deputy club doctor for Manchester United and then became the Head of Sports Medicine at Blackburn Rovers Football Club. With his years of experience, he was able to treat and care for many professional and recreational athletes at the English Institute of Sport and adolescent pupils at Sedbergh School.
Dr Batty joined Manchester City Football Club and worked as the Head of Sports Medicine between 2011 and 2012. Between 2012 and 2014, he was appointed Senior Team Doctor for England Rugby. Dr Batty is Team Doctor for Middlesex County Cricket Club and Consultant for the English National Ballet.
He was formerly Training Programme Director in the North West, training young doctors in the speciality. He is a former examiner and current appraiser for the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine, He was Medical Director at the Isokinetic Medical Clinic from 2014-2020. Dr Batty is currently the Educational and Clinical Lead for the Independent Doctors Federation.
His specialist interests include musculoskeletal injury and assessment, musculoskeletal ultrasound and injections, exercise as a therapeutic, diet and health and rehabilitation from injury, especially in the paediatric and adolescent age.
Dr Batty great interest in Sports Medicine and strongly believes in using exercise to treat medical and orthopaedic conditions. Through keeping physically active by doing sports and dancing can help to stay fit and healthy which is strongly encouraged for all people.
