Dr. Richard Benson graduated from St Bartholomew's Hospital, London in 1988. He completed his general medical training and then undertook formal oncology training at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. He was a visiting Senior Fellow at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Canada from 1998-1999.
Dr. Benson was appointed a Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Addenbrooke's NHS Foundation Trust and Peterborough Hospital NHS Trust in 2000.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Benson is actively involved in clinical research with a special interest in the technical aspects of radiotherapy. His research interests focus on improving radiotherapy and chemoradiotherapy for head & neck and urological cancers by developing technical radiotherapy and evaluating treatment-related toxicity. His goal is to improve outcomes and treatment processes for patients.
Dr. Benson is also involved in teaching and examining oncology trainees for the Royal College of Radiologists.
