Dr. Karen Hogg is a highly regarded Consultant Cardiologist with a specialised focus on Heart Failure and the provision of supportive and palliative care for patients with cardiac conditions.
After receiving her medical training at the University of Glasgow in 1999, Dr. Hogg went on to distinguish herself in the field of cardiology. She was awarded a prestigious British Heart Foundation junior fellowship and earned her postgraduate doctorate studying Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction, resulting in the award of an MD in 2002.
Throughout her career, Dr. Hogg has pursued advanced training and sub-specialisation in cardiology, working in hospitals across the West of Scotland. In 2010, she obtained a consultant post at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, where she has since played a pivotal role in developing innovative programs to support patients and families affected by heart failure. One such initiative is "The Caring Together Programme," established in collaboration with the British Heart Foundation and Marie Curie.
Dr. Hogg's dedication to improving cardiac care extends beyond clinical practice. She serves as an Associate Professor at the University of Glasgow, contributing to various clinical projects aimed at enhancing care for individuals and families living with cardiac disease. Additionally, Dr. Hogg holds the position of clinical lead for Cardiology at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and serves as Chair of the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Heart Failure Managed Clinical Network.
