Dr. Rana completed her medical degree in 1993 and completed specialist training in cardiology in Southampton, King's College Hospital, Royal Brompton, Hammersmith and St Mary's Hospital in London. She was first appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist in 2009 at Papworth Hospital and practiced there until 2019.
She has a wide range of expertise in all areas of general cardiology and has special interests in valvular heart disease, structural heart disease, cardiac imaging and echocardiography. She has special interests in stress, transoesophageal and transthoracic echocardiography as well as patent foramen ovale (PVO) and atrial septic defects (ASD) closure and surgical valve repair.
Dr. Rana has held a number of both national and international leadership roles including Education Committee Chair of the British Society of Echocardiography and Training Lead for Cardiac Imaging in the Royal Society of Medicine (Cardiology Section). She is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London.
She has research interests in interventional imaging, particularly in structural and valvular heart disease and has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters.
Dr. Rana offers consultations in English, Hindi and Urdu.
