Additionally, the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart muscle itself, are also re-implanted into the newly positioned aorta.
Typically performed within the first few weeks after birth, the ASO is a lifesaving procedure that allows children with D-TGA to have normal heart function, leading to a healthy life with few restrictions.
