Mr Nnamdi Nwaejike is an experienced Consultant Cardiac Surgeon renowned for his expertise in adult cardiac surgery, cardiothoracic transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. He currently sees private patients at Spire Manchester Hospital and The Alexandra Hospital.
Mr Nwaejike completed his medical degree at Queen's University Belfast in 2002, followed by his MD at Queen Mary University of London. He then underwent rigorous training, starting with basic surgical training in Northern Ireland. He subsequently earned the position of national cardiothoracic trainee in the Northwest of England, rotating through prestigious institutions such as Plymouth, Bristol, and Papworth Hospitals. He also completed an advanced cardiothoracic fellowship program at Duke University Hospital in North Carolina, USA. Mr Nwaejike is also a Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons.
Mr Nwaejike was appointed as a Consultant Cardiac and Cardiothoracic Transplant Surgeon at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester, where he continues to make significant contributions to the field of cardiac surgery. In his current clinical practice, he specialises in a wide range of adult cardiac surgery procedures, including: total arterial revascularisation, mitral valve repair, off-pump/beating-heart coronary revascularisation and atrial fibrillation surgery. He also offers consultations for heart bypass surgery, coronary artery disease treatment, aortic root replacement and aortic valve replacement surgery.
Mr Nwaejike's dedication to advancing medical knowledge is evident in his extensive research portfolio, which includes numerous published research papers and presentations at both national and international conferences. In addition to his clinical roles, Mr Nwaejike serves as the Trust Specialty Training Lead in cardiac surgery and transplantation at Wythenshawe Hospital within the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) and is a member of the Northwest Cardiothoracic Surgery Training Committee.
