Dr. Mario Njeim, MD, is an American Board Certified Consultant Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) in Abu Dhabi. After finishing medical school at the Saint-Joseph University of Beirut, he moved to the United States of America where he trained at Henry Ford Hospital/Wayne State University in Detroit and the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor.Dr. Njeim has been certified by the American Board in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiac Electrophysiology. He has authored multiple publications in the fields of cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology and has also won a number of awards for excellence in patient care.With over 10 years of experience in Cardiac Electrophysiology, General Cardiology, and Cardiac Imaging, Dr. Njeim is the young ambassador for Lebanon at the European Heart Rhythm Association.Dr. Njeim founded the Cardiac Catheter Ablation laboratory at Hotel-Dieu de France Hospital in Beirut, Lebanon before joining Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City, Abu Dhabi in 2021. In addition to being a lecturer at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Dr. Njeim is the Co-Chairman of the Cardiac Electrophysiology workgroup of the Lebanese Society of Cardiology and the Vice-Chairman and Co-founder of Youth Organization Heart Awareness Now (YOHAN), an organization raising awareness against sudden cardiac death (SCD) in the youth.
