A lung carcinoid tumor refers to a cancerous tumor that is created by neuroendocrine cells. It is a very rare type of lung tumor since only 1% to 2% of lung cancers are treated as carcinoid tumors. It is a very slow-growing cancer and can cause carcinoid tumors.

The most common type of lung cancer is Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer NSCLC. It affects both smokers and non-smokers and only receives more than a million cases per year in India. However, sometimes it causes symptoms such as coughing blood, wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest pain. | In some cases, people diagnosed with NSCLC do not show any signs or symptoms related to the disease. Some common NSCLC symptoms are fatigue, shortness of breath, loss of appetite, hoarseness, coughing up blood, and weight gain. |
Treatments | Surgery is sometimes followed by chemotherapy and radiation if the tumour is operable. If surgery is not an option, the diagnosed individual can receive targeted therapy or participate in a clinical trial. | The treatment of NSCLC mainly comprises five ways which are surgery, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy. If the cancer is in an operable condition, then the initial choice of the doctors and oncologists associated with the case is surgery, sometimes followed by chemotherapy. However, if it is inoperable due to its location and stage, the only options are targeted therapy, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and immunotherapy. Each of them has specific amounts of side effects but tends to show positive results in most cases. |
