Prof. Dr. Hakan Kaymak is an ophthalmologist, eye surgeon and senior surgeon at Breyer, Kaymak & Klabe Eye Surgery for retinal, macular and vitreous surgery. His range of therapies includes laser treatments, innovative combination therapies and minimally invasive operations as well as the prevention and treatment of myopia in children. He has experience from more than 45,000 operations. Since 2022 he has been a Focus top doctor for retinal diseases as well as for refractive surgery and cataracts. In 2023 he was also recognized as a Focus Top Physician in the field of diabetic eye diseases and was included in the Stern Doctors List as a specialist in retinal surgery. He is medical director of our Macula-Retina Center in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel and professor of experimental ophthalmology at the Homburg/Saar University Eye Clinic. He also teaches at the Ernst Abbe University in Jena and cooperates with Prof. Schaeffel, University of Tübingen, in the area of prevention and treatment of myopia in students .

We received a Science Oscar at DOC 2017 for the “Best Paper” in the “General Ophthalmology” session. The topic was atropine therapy for the treatment of myopia in children.

At the 28th DGII Congress in Bochum, the lecture by Dr. Kaymak "Special lenses for the posterior segment surgeon?" received the session award of the Scientific Session: Cataract / IOL / PIOL.
In February 2017 we received the DGII publication award for our publication "Effect of different cap thicknesses and PTA values on visual acuity development in ReLEx SMILE and Femto-LASIK".

As part of the “SMILE” session of the 30th DGII Congress in Mannheim, Dr. Breyer was presented with the session prize for our presentation on a comparison between ReLEx SMILE and Femto-LASIK.
As part of the 29th DGII Congress in Karlsruhe, the presentation by Dr. Breyer was awarded 'Best Paper of Session' on the topic of ReLEx smile.
