Mr Robbie Walker is a seasoned consultant ophthalmologist specializing in emergency eye care, cataract surgery, and retinal surgery, including macular hole, epiretinal membrane, and retinal detachment surgery, in addition to the management of floaters. As a highly skilled 'high volume’ cataract surgeon, he focuses not only on routine cataract operations but also on complex lens replacement surgery and managing the complications of previous cataract surgeries.
During his surgeries, he utilizes standard monofocal lenses to enhance each patient’s visual outcome. As part of his cataract and retinal work, he achieves excellent results with both YAG laser capsulotomies and retinal laser procedures. Based in London, Mr. Walker presently practices both within the NHS and privately at various esteemed hospitals, such as the private London-based St John & St Elizabeth Hospital, the Cleveland Clinic, the private Battersea Clinic (REAL), and the Western Eye Hospital.
Mr Walker was an academic scholar when he successfully obtained an MA from Oxford University as well as a sporting ‘Blue’ for his athletic achievements. He acquired his medical degree (MBBS) from the Hospital of Guys, Kings, and St Thomas' (London). Building upon his skills as a fully qualified secondary school teacher, he recently completed a Masters in Surgical Education at Imperial College London, where he was the Dean’s scholar. He presently serves as an examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. Mr Walker undertook his ophthalmology training in North London, which encompassed fellowship training at the esteemed Moorfields Eye Hospital.
He has published peer-reviewed articles and publications and presents lectures to junior doctors in his geographical region as well as at international conferences. Currently, he is the lead consultant in the Western Eye Hospital's Emergency Department and has received numerous awards, including an academic scholarship from Oxford University.
