Mr Saeed began his medical education at the University of Manchester, graduating with his undergraduate medical degree in 1987. Following this, he undertook his general medical training at St James University Hospital in Leeds, where he gained valuable insight into the management and treatment of life-threatening conditions and injuries. He went on to undertake his specialist training in Aberdeen, where he was exposed to a vast array of agricultural injuries and treatments. He further developed his knowledge abroad, undergoing a Hand and Microsurgery fellowship in Louisville, Kentucky. He returned to the UK, taking up the position of Consultant in Leeds in 1999.
Mr Saeed continues to contribute back to society with humanitarian efforts, working for charities and disaster relief work performing limb salvage surgery in places such as Haiti, Pakistan, and Indonesia. His extra work has been recognised, and he was later added to the Faculty at the Global Risk Forum Emergency Surgery Workshops as his expertise could be utilised to improve emergency responses in disasters. He has been a member of the International Committee of the Red Cross, assisting in guidelines for limb injuries in disaster scenarios.
Mr Saeed is also an active teacher, holding the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer in Plastic Surgery at St James's University Hospital and teaches plastic surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons for the Austere Environment Course.
