Mr Simon Wood is an experienced Consultant Gynaecologist at Nuffield Health The Grosvenor Hospital with over three decades of experience. He completed his medical degree at the University of Liverpool in 1990, followed by his postgraduate training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Merseyside and Manchester. Dr Wood was the first gynaecologist to complete subspecialist reproductive medicine training in the North West. This comprehensive five-year training program focused on fertility and reproductive endocrinology, encompassing critical areas such as recurrent pregnancy loss and all aspects of hormone treatment particularly menopuase. In 2004, Mr Wood completed his MD at the University of Liverpool and in 2006, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
Mr Wood also practices as a consultant at the Countess of Chester. In this role, he serves as the lead clinician and holds the responsibility for the fertility unit, a role that also involves oversight by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA). Under his leadership, the Countess of Chester witnessed ground-breaking developments in women's healthcare. Mr Wood also championed the implementation of ambulatory gynaecology, outpatient hysteroscopy, and outpatient fertility screening, enhancing patient access and convenience. Furthermore, he played a pivotal role in introducing enhanced recovery protocols.
At Nuffield Health The Grosvenor Hospital, Mr Wood offers a range of essential treatments and tests, including hysteroscopy, adnexal surgery, contraception, hormonal coil insertion, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), endometrial ablation, smear tests (cervical screening), excision of vaginal lumps, and endometrial resection.
