Mrs. Anne Mitchener is a neurosurgeon with a strong interest in treating all spinal issues, which includes new and minimally invasive techniques with and without instrumentation. Mrs. Mitchener also offers second opinion consultation.
Specialist areas include leg pain/sciatica, back pain, arm pain/brachalgia, neck pain, disc prolapse/slipped disc, herniation, spinal claudication, canal stenosis, myelopathy.
Qualified in Psychology at University College London in 1979. Mrs. Mitchener later further her studies with a Ph.D. in drug abuse and was awarded in 1983 at the Institute of Psychiatry. Following this she went on to qualify in medicine from Cambridge (Downing College and New Addenbrooke's Hospital) in 1986, later receiving neurosurgical training in London, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.
Her extensive medical expertise was further recognised when she was added to the principal list as a Consultant Neurosurgeon in 2002.
In her clinical practice, Mrs. Mitchener has widespread experience that spans across Europe. She was a Consultant Neurosurgeon in Norway from 2002 to 2006, before later moving to Charing Cross and Kings College Hospital until 2009, when she became fully independent. To this day she continues her work with a large NHS practice based in London.
On a personal level, Mrs. Mitchener is married with two children. Notably, she is a polyglot and is able to speak French, Spanish, and Norwegian. Beyond her medical interests, her personal interests include travel, sport, opera, and ballet.
