He is immediat past-president of the International Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and CEO of the International Ovarian Tumor Analysis Group. Other than being busy clinically he has wide ranging research interests and supervises a number of Ph.D. students. He has edited seven books, published over 420 papers in international journals and furthermore is invited to speak at numerous international meetings on subjects relating to the use of ultrasound and diagnostics in gynaecology. Some of his current research interests include the psychological impact of pregnancy loss, diagnostic tests for ovarian cancer and the diagnosis of endometriosis.
Professor Bourne works at 25 Harley Street in central London and at Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon. He provides an ultrasound based gynaecology "one stop" service with a focus on providing an accurate diagnosis and management plan in one visit. He also offers an early pregnancy assessment service based on the use of ultrasound. Often a normal scan is all that is required to provide reassurence that there is nothing to be concerned about either for someone with gynaecological symptoms or in early pregnancy.
