Mr Mohamed El-Ashry is a consultant ophthalmologist based at Great Western Hospital in Swindon.
His expertise is in the following areas:
He completed his basic specialist training in the Midlands before going on to undertake higher specialist training in Edinburgh. He has also gained an MD for his research into the genetics of ocular diseases and has published over 24 papers in highly regarded journals. Additionally, he has presented over 34 posters at both national and international conferences.
Mr El-Ashry undertook an advanced fellowship in surgical retina in Edinburgh and Sheffield as well as a fellowship in surgical and medical retina which was based in Hull. Following this, he spent time as a locum vitreo-retinal consultant at Great Western Hospital before accepting a permanent position within the Trust in 2015.
He is a member of a number of organisations, including the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the British and Eire Association of Vitreoretinal Surgeons.
