Miss Christine Lwin is a highly specialised and skilled Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMFS), with more than 20years of surgical expertise. She has a specialist interest in corrective facial disproportion/ orthognathic/ jaw surgery, facial aesthetic surgery, facial skin cancer surgery, maxillofacial trauma surgery, salivary gland surgery as well as the management of TMJ disorders & surgeries associated with obstructive sleep apnoea. Additionally, she is also experienced in all aspects of paediatric & adult dento-alveolar surgery from impacted wisdom teeth extraction to managing jaw cysts.
Miss Lwin employs the most innovative medical technology to achieve outstanding surgical results, including 3D-virtual surgical planning in orthognathic surgery and 3D-printing technology, ridge preservation techniques in dental extractions for implantology, alongside traditional surgical techniques such as bone graft and sinus lifts.
She holds dual qualifications in Dentistry and Medicine from the Universities of Glasgow and Birmingham, and has obtained academic awards and prizes. She completed her general surgical training in London and Oxford before undertaking higher surgical specialist training in Regional Centres Liverpool and Oxford. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh, has authored several research publications, and presented at International meetings.
Miss. Lwin is the Lead for Clinical Governance in UHD OMFS and Chair of Dorset Orthognathic Audit Group, since 2017, hence she is extremely passionate about ensuring excellence in clinical care and surgical outcomes. She has been a recent recipient of multiple Clinical Excellence award from UHD (Poole Hospital). In addition, she writes exam questions for the Royal College of Surgeons' FRCS OMFS exams and reviewer of scientific journals.
