Mr Munther El Haddad is a leading consultant paediatric surgeon based at Cromwell Hospital. He has previously been named as one of the top 100 children's doctors in Britain by The Times (2012).
His expertise includes the following areas:
Mr Haddad has been key in the establishment of the Paediatric Minimally Invasive Surgical setup at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital as well as the skill lab.
He performed the first laparoscopic endorectal pull-through for Hirschsprung's disease as well as the first Heller's cardiomyotomy for achalasia in children in the UK. Furthermore, in 2004, Mr Haddad was the first paediatric surgeon in Europe to employ the AESOP robotic arm in laparoscopic surgery on children. In 2014, he founded the robotic-assisted surgical programme for children at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, after raising £1.5 million through the children's charity he is the chair of.
Mr Haddad is involved in medical education and teaches undergraduate medical students, SHOs, specialist registrars, clinical fellows, and clinical observers. He regularly travels across the UK to educate and proctor paediatric surgeons in laparoscopic surgery. He also travels the world to operate and to teach paediatric laparoscopic surgery.
