**Miss Gina Michel**, a Consultant Gynaecologist at The Ridgeway Hospital, has been serving as an NHS Consultant at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2021.
**Education**
Miss Michel graduated as a doctor from the University of Bristol in 2009. She completed her postgraduate specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Kent, Surrey, and Sussex Deanery, gaining valuable experience at esteemed institutions such as St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey, and the Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford, with a focus on complex gynaecological conditions.
**Experience**
With a calm, patient-centred, and holistic approach to care, Gina is deeply passionate about advocating for women's health. As a full-time working mother of two, she understands the importance of efficiently addressing gynaecological concerns. Her expertise spans various benign gynaecological issues, including heavy periods, pelvic pain, pain during intercourse, and menopausal symptoms. Gina serves as the lead clinician for ambulatory gynaecology, dedicated to enhancing the patient experience by leveraging the latest technology and practices to achieve the best health outcomes.
**Special interests**
Miss Michel's specific interests include menstrual problems, pelvic pain, ovarian cysts, and fibroids. She specialises in minimal access surgery, including hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. Gina is committed to offering women more choice, autonomy, and less invasive options, including outpatient transcervical radiofrequency ablation for uterine fibroids, a highly effective alternative to traditional surgical interventions.
**Training**
Gina's dedication to training the doctors of the future is evident through her achievement of a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Dundee in 2018. She actively participates in departmental training within the NHS and serves as a trainer for gynaecological surgery in the Severn Deanery.
