Dr Carl Shakespeare is a Consultant Cardiologist. He currently works within St Thomas's Hospital in London. He previously held the role of Lead Consultant Cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital for 18 years. He also sees patients in a private setting at the Blackheath, Lister and London Independent Hospitals.
Dr Shakespeare began his medical education at Westminster Medical School, graduating in 1984. He then progressed onto his specialist training at several London-based clinics including the National Heart Hospital, St Thomas', St George's and the Royal London Hospital. He was awarded a fellowship by the British Heart Foundation in 1989 to further develop his cardiology skills. Following this, he became a fully accredited specialist in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
Dr Shakespeare is an active member of the research community, with over 40 peer-reviewed publications. He is also the Clinical Director of the SE London Cardiac Network and Regional Advisor to the British Cardiac Society and the Royal College of Physicians.
