Dr Wilson has specialist interests in the early diagnosis, prevent and treatment of pre-cancerous lesions and cancer through colonoscopy, in patients with inflammatory bowel disease and those at an increased risk of developing colorectal cancer and is nationally accredited Bowel Cancer Screener colonoscopist. Dr Wilson manages all aspects of general luminal gastroenterology with interest in irritable bowel syndrome, food intolerance, women's health and inflamatory bowel disease. She aslo manages patients who have gastrointestinal side effects of cancer treatment (anterior resection syndrome, pelvic radiation disease, radiation proctopathy) and practises at Royal Marsden and St Mark's hospitals.
Dr Wilson qualified from University of Oxford in 2002 and obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in 2005 and trained in gastroenterology and general internal medicine in Oxford Deanery. She the spent three years at the Wolfson Unit for Endoscopy, St Mark's Hospital undertaking research in the use of colonoscopy in diagnosis and assessment of dysplasia and attained an MD thesis at the Imperial College, London. Dr Wilson was appointed as Consultant Gastroenterologist and Specialist Endoscopist at St Mark's Hospital in December 2012.
She is invited to speak at numerous national and international meetings and has contributed to a number of guidelines on the use of advanced imaging in lesion recognition, including in inflammatory bowel disease. Her current research interests are split between surveillance options in ulcerative colitis and management of patients with gastrointestinal consequences of cancer treatment.
